WWII in the Blackstone Valley: A History Open House

Join the 3-5-0 Girls for a free, family-friendly day exploring the people, industries, and communities of the Blackstone Valley during World War II. From the factories and mills that powered wartime production to the men and women who served in uniform and on the home front, discover how the Valley contributed to the Allied victory. Meet living historians and local history organizations, explore military vehicles and historical displays, and enjoy a series of short presentations covering everything from wartime manufacturing and Marine Corps communications to the women who served and worked during WWII. With historians, reenactors, veterans, museums, and community organizations from across the Valley, this is an opportunity to discover the history of World War II that happened right here at home.

Meet WWII Veteran Caster Salemi

104 year old WWII Army Veteran Caster Salemi will be joining us in Worcester! Caster served in the Pacific Theater with the 251st Field Artillery Battalion, Battery B.

Yes, there is plenty of free parking available on site. 

Dressing in World War II-era clothing is always welcome and encouraged! To avoid confusion with our registered reenactors, please do not attend in military uniform if you are over the age of 13 unless you are a registered reenactor.

Please email us at threefiveohgirls@gmail.com ahead of time if you plan to bring a WWII-era vehicle so we can make arrangements. Please do not bring vehicles that have not been registered with the event in advance.

Absolutely! This is a family-friendly event for kids of all ages, with plenty to see, explore, and learn. From military vehicles and living historians to historical displays and demonstrations, there’s something to keep young history enthusiasts interested and engaged.

Food will not be available for purchase on site, but you’re welcome to bring a picnic and enjoy lunch right here at the event along the river. There’s also a Dunkin’ nearby, along with plenty of great local spots for takeout or dining in. Grab a sandwich from BirchTree Bread Co. or Nu Kitchen and bring it back to enjoy riverside!
